Birth Place here we come!

Last week turned out to be a very good one for Andy and me; especially me! I have been completely stressed about the thoughts of giving birth in a hospital. Also, i was never quite at ease with my doctor which only makes matters worse. I was getting strong vibes that he was all about intervention and getting the baby out by the set due date; which we all know that a due date is just a rough timeline of baby's arrival. For the most part babys have a way of knowing when the right time will be.
My mom did some footwork for me and we were able to get into The Birth Place in Winter Garden. My stress levels immediately decreased! Andy and i went for a tour of the facilities on wednesday and i had my first appointment the following morning. I could go on and on about the benefits of giving birth there, but i wont take the time to bore you info you could care less about! Needless to say, Barring everything goes well, i will be able to have the birth experience I long for; void of all of the unnecessary "medical" interventions!!! Andy is even planning to be the one to catch the baby! How exciting is that?!
My due date has also been moved back to June 2nd since this date coincides more with my last cycle although, baby is still measuring for May 20th. Everything is going very well so far, baby is already moving down into position and is very active!

I'm glad things are working out for you. It must have been horrible to be uneasy with your doctor...I love mine...now I'm just hoping a hurricane doesn't hit and send me to the states where I'd have a different doctor! Anyway, God knows the future, so I'll leave that with Him. :) The baby is moving down into position...wow...that's so exciting! I'm happy for you...and your new findings.

Oh this is all so exciting! I'm really, really disappointed I won't be able to make the baby's acquaintance before I move as I was looking forward to seeing all of you very much. I'm sorry to hear the wedding is at a bad time for you, I had hoped we could keep it in the safe zone, but I guess not.

Do you have names picked out yet? If (s)he is already this active I can't imagine what it will be like when Aaron and Nate are around, add "Grandpa" to the mix and it will just be a riot of fun and laughter. ;)

Hannah,
This is Allana (Carl and Flo's daughter) Remember me? :-) Anyway, I was reading some of your posts and found this one. Have you ever heard of a doula? A doula is a woman who is trained as a supporter for the woman giving birth. She doesn't replace your husband's role at all. She knows how to give counter pressure on your back and legs to help with labor pains. I have had 5 natural births and didn't use a doula until my last baby. OH HOW I WISH I had used one for all my births. My doula was my friend who had given birth many times herself. Anyway, if you are interested in knowing more, let me know. Your birth center may be able to give you information, too.

Hey! Glad all is going well for you. I have heard of the Birth Place, seems like several of my distant friends have given birth there. More "natural" practices are probably relaxing, but I am SOOOOOOO thankful for "medical intervention" because without it Ryan and I would have been dead before he could ever take his first breath! Even my very caring drs. didn't know that my body wouldn't work when it came to childbirth, so things to quite a different turn very quickly. I hope things go perfectly for you, but just remember that if they don't, you're no less of a woman or a mom...and thankfully God has given us medical science to help get us through those times! Best wishes!
