Kids!!!

In thinking of Christmas approaching, i decided it was time to try and capture a few decent pictures to use on cards. In an attempt to save a few pennies, we pulled from their currant wardrobe for these pictures. Not too bad for working with what you already have!

They did well, for the most part. It was a VERY quick little shoot to say the least! After a few smiles they were ready to play.

Anyhow, here are a few that turned out decent. I am by no means professional, but i do like them to look half way decent! Enjoy!

More Fall Flair!

 I love to decorate and re-decorate my home! I also love to share my little projects and enjoy seeing what others have done with their homes. So, with that being said, here are a few more pictures of my latest project.

This dresser has been in the master bedroom, but i decided to move it to the living room; making room in the MB for another little project!:) I've had this gallon of oops paint from Lowe's for quite awhile and decided the color would be perfect for the dresser! I'm loving the POP of color it gives to the LR.

Moving the dresser to the LR also meant a new space to decorate! YIPPEE!!! I've been playing around with the decor the past couple of days and this is what i've come up with so far.

The wooden box was a $1 garage sale find. When i picked it up, the lady selling it informed me that it was for carrying supplies. Hmm...maybe, but i had a different opinion. I've had the glass milk bottles for a long time and they've just been sitting in my shed. Pity! The wooden box became the perfect solution for displaying them. I added the ribbon around the middle to dress it up a bit. Add a few flowers and sticks from the yard and waalaa! I like it!

This little arrangement is thanks to Target dollar spot and the Dollar Tree. Oh...and the little egg is just an Easter egg wrapped in jute.

And here is final arrangement! If you notice;  i changed out the orange ribbon on the bunting for jute string. Much better!

Still trying to decide whether or not to ORB the hardware or not. Opinions?

Fall flair

 Oh. My. Goodness! I can't believe i'm actually posting! This blog has been completely neglected for a LONG time. I finally told myself to start keeping it up or just delete it. We'll see how that works out. 

To start us off, i figured i would share a few pictures of some of the fall decor around our house. I have to admit, i'm having a hard time getting into the fall spirit with my decor this year. It doesn't help that Florida weather doesn't exactly fall into the cool and crisp category that i associate with the fall season. With fall being one my favorite seasons; i truly wished we lived further north this time of the year. Ah well, this is where God has placed us for the time being and He has helped me to be content where i am.

Now, on to the decor! I was thrilled to find these darling little lanterns in the dollar spot at Target the other week. They hold tea lights inside, but i was too lazy  hurried to put new ones in and light them for pictures. I can't wait to use them in my Christmas decor!

LOVE all of the white pumpkins being used in decor these days. A nice change from all of the basic bright oranges.

The quality of this shot is extremely poor, but you get the idea anyways. The whole shelf needs some help, but at this point i'm not caring too much. That will change soon i'm sure. I also think the bunting would look better hanging from jute instead of the ribbon, but it will remain the way it is for now.

 I absolutely adore the way this chalkboard turned out. Love the cute little burlap flowers too!

DIY Wall Art

 I started out with a couple thrift store frames, which i absolutely love, 6 mini forks, burlap and white & burgundy spray paint. I had already painted the frames before i thought to snap a picture. I simply attached the burlap the the inside back of frames using hot glue. I sprayed the forks with the burgundy and attached them to the burlap using hot glue. End result equals some pretty cute wall art for my kitchen! I'm a little annoyed at the ugly outlet though. Haven't come up with a solution for that one yet. Any thoughts?!

Shade + jute + burlap.......

I just had to show you the dessert i made on Memorial weekend! I was thrilled with the way it turned out. So patriotic!

 Plain ole lampshade turned CUTE! This lampshade was a clearance find at Target (love that store)! I added the jute around the edges and made some cute burlap flowers to tack to the front/side. I'm pleased with the outcome except for one minor detail......the colors of the jute and burlap definitely don't match! O well, guess it just adds to the character!

"New" livingroom

As with my kitchen, i decided to change things up a bit and have attempted to brighten the area. We have a small house, so the brighter colors are working well for the space we have to work with. The 1st three pictures are what we had before change began. I will let you know right now that i did not assure that things were completely neat and tidy for these pics! I even left the doors open on the computer armoire, revealing the great organization going on in there! 

The basket hasn't always been there. I purchased it on clearance with the decor and color scheme in mind. I had a wooden coffee table in its place, but felt it was a little too bulky for the space.

Thus, begins the change! It is still a work in progress, thus the missing picture in the frame!

Notice the jute ball? Little plastic princess ball + jute, hot glue and burnt fingertips = cute little jute ball!

GW frame, GW wreath and spray painted key ornament resulted in this unique wall hanging. I kinda like it!

Again, the coloring is a bit off, but i think you can still get a pretty good idea of the direction i'm headed with it. I would like to replace the current rug with something brighter, but have yet to find one i like that fits the budget! Those things cost a small fortune!

With all of the change has also come homemade curtains! This is a 1st for me, as i like things to look nice and not homemade. While my creation is faaar from perfect, i was still pleasantly surprised with how well they turned out for a 1st!

The rocker will eventually be replaced with; maybe a nice cain chair?

The lamps you see in the background were thrift store finds that received a few coats of fresh paint. They were formally a "lovely" brassy color. Love the style of them.

I have recently become a big fan of leather furniture and was thrilled to find this one on Craigslist for a mere $50! I don't worry quite so much if the kids happen to get something on it; so easy to just wipe off!
