Catch Up!

I am playing bit of catch up with these photos. These are all from Thanksgiving day, but i thought they were too cute to not share. Besides, "mammy" and "papaw" love seeing their grand babies!!!

The pictures below are just random. There are some days that we take Andy to work so that we can have access to the car for the day On those days, we often meet him for lunch. A favorite spot for us, is a lake that is close to his office. The kids love to take bread and feed the ducks and birds. its so much fun to watch.

This was their first experience playing in the fountains! It was definitely a winner! Next time, mommy will be prepared with dry clothes!

Mommy's little helpers! They absolutely love to help in the kitchen and i try to slow down and let them. Not an easy task at times, but so worth it to see their look of pride when they've completed their project!

Snow Days!

Let's just say....Florida is definitely lacking in the snow department during winter! So, when we heard that there would be "snow" at a few places; we jumped on the opportunity to let the kids play in "snow"! The 1st stop was basically one big chunk of white ice, but the kids...and daddy...still enjoyed themselves. Mommy enjoyed standing on the sidelines remaining dry and snapping pictures!

Caleb wasn't too thrilled with the "snow" at first. Can't say that i blame him.

Bet you can't tell who these kids have for their mommy?! To put your minds at rest; their cups contained hot chocolate. Although, they will gladly accept coffee if offered! What can i say....they know whats good!:)

Enjoying more "snow"! aka soap bubbles. I must say, it was pretty during its flight to the ground. After that...not so much!

Out with the old, in with the new!

We've been busy little bees around here lately! We decided to finally tackle the job of a much needed porch renovation....what a mess! Thanks to the previous owners, we had/have quite a bit of work needing done. More on that later!

In addition to the porch; i shared with Andy my thoughts on installing a subway tile backsplash. He was more than willing to give it a go! Yay! Below is a "before" picture of one half of my kitchen. Blogger is not cooperating with me tonight so, the "after" picture awaits you at the bottom of this post!

As you can see from the picture below, i have taken a completely different direction with the colors in my decor and lets just say.....i love it! Its so bright and cheery...something i can use a lot of right now! The yellow is probably my favorite so far! I REALLY ventured out when i purchased these pillows. They are definitely on the bold side, but i think they blend nicely. What do you think?? Thanks to Old Time Pottery, they were mine for a mere $2.88 each!

Snagged this beauty at a garage sale a few weeks ago for a project at church, but it ended up being too big. So...after several coats of spray paint it became a cheery yellow and graces a wall in my home!

Who doesn't like a little subway art?! I was so excited to find this one at Wal-mart for $3.97! I really like the sayings on it.

My young herbs are desperately trying to survive my son! I had to put them out of reach after finding them "thinned" out by sweet this fingers.

And....the "after shot! This was a 1st for both Andy and i and i'd say it turned out pretty good for our 1st!

I'm very pleased with it.

More Christmas cheer!

So....remember how, in my last post, i mentioned something about changing my tree decor???? Well....I did! It still looks much the same, but with the addition of burlap, pinecones and a big ole metal tub! I LOVE the the effect of the metal tub!

I tried and tried to get a decent shot of my dinning room, but my camera wasn't cooperating with me. More like...i don't really know how to use it? I plan to remedy that real soon though!

The lights decided to quit on me...hence the lack of lights in this little tree! Its still cute, even if its missing its sparkle! I wrote out the Fruits of the Spirit on the tags and attached them with mini clothespins. I really like the way it turned out.

Deck the Halls...

First off...I had all of these pictures in nice & neat order and Blogger decided to go and rearrange them all on me! Grrr Anyhow, I've been slowly putting up all of my Christmas decor and i think it is finally complete...somewhat! I still have a few more things to add/change up, but whats new!

I had great plans to do things a bit differently with the decor this year, but when it came down to it, i decided to spare the budget and work with what i already had. There are a few things i made or had made that i am totally in love with!!!

I have some different plans for the tree...i'll get back to you on that. For now, this is what she looks like.

WARNING! Picture overload!

I really wanted some burlap stockings this year, so i attempted to craft them on my own. My sewing machine fought me the whole way! It decided to only go in one direction; that being backwards! So yes, i sewed these up going backwards on the machine. Fun! Needless to say, they are lacking in style, but as soon as i get my machine to cooperate......

The lovely mantle shelf you see below is compliments of my hubby and father in law. I'm in LOVE!!! Its nice and deep and o so pretty. Didn't they do a good job?

Found these classy little frame ornaments at Dollar General. Yes, i know, they still need pictures! I'm getting to that.

Ahh...love, love, love! This thing, literally, took me several hours to hot glue all of that jute. Totally worth it though! I'm contemplating ORBing it. What do you think? Isn't she a beauty?! All credit goes to Pottery Barn for the design. I totally copied it. Oops! I have no plans to sell it, so i think i'm safe. I may get brave and cut it out of wood. We'll see. For now, its heavy duty cardboard under all that jute.

Kids!!!

In thinking of Christmas approaching, i decided it was time to try and capture a few decent pictures to use on cards. In an attempt to save a few pennies, we pulled from their currant wardrobe for these pictures. Not too bad for working with what you already have!

They did well, for the most part. It was a VERY quick little shoot to say the least! After a few smiles they were ready to play.

Anyhow, here are a few that turned out decent. I am by no means professional, but i do like them to look half way decent! Enjoy!

More Fall Flair!

I love to decorate and re-decorate my home! I also love to share my little projects and enjoy seeing what others have done with their homes. So, with that being said, here are a few more pictures of my latest project.

This dresser has been in the master bedroom, but i decided to move it to the living room; making room in the MB for another little project!:) I've had this gallon of oops paint from Lowe's for quite awhile and decided the color would be perfect for the dresser! I'm loving the POP of color it gives to the LR.

Moving the dresser to the LR also meant a new space to decorate! YIPPEE!!! I've been playing around with the decor the past couple of days and this is what i've come up with so far.

The wooden box was a $1 garage sale find. When i picked it up, the lady selling it informed me that it was for carrying supplies. Hmm...maybe, but i had a different opinion. I've had the glass milk bottles for a long time and they've just been sitting in my shed. Pity! The wooden box became the perfect solution for displaying them. I added the ribbon around the middle to dress it up a bit. Add a few flowers and sticks from the yard and waalaa! I like it!

This little arrangement is thanks to Target dollar spot and the Dollar Tree. Oh...and the little egg is just an Easter egg wrapped in jute.

And here is final arrangement! If you notice; i changed out the orange ribbon on the bunting for jute string. Much better!

Still trying to decide whether or not to ORB the hardware or not. Opinions?

Fall flair

Oh. My. Goodness! I can't believe i'm actually posting! This blog has been completely neglected for a LONG time. I finally told myself to start keeping it up or just delete it. We'll see how that works out.

To start us off, i figured i would share a few pictures of some of the fall decor around our house. I have to admit, i'm having a hard time getting into the fall spirit with my decor this year. It doesn't help that Florida weather doesn't exactly fall into the cool and crisp category that i associate with the fall season. With fall being one my favorite seasons; i truly wished we lived further north this time of the year. Ah well, this is where God has placed us for the time being and He has helped me to be content where i am.

Now, on to the decor! I was thrilled to find these darling little lanterns in the dollar spot at Target the other week. They hold tea lights inside, but i was too l~~azy~~ hurried to put new ones in and light them for pictures. I can't wait to use them in my Christmas decor!

LOVE all of the white pumpkins being used in decor these days. A nice change from all of the basic bright oranges.

The quality of this shot is extremely poor, but you get the idea anyways. The whole shelf needs some help, but at this point i'm not caring too much. That will change soon i'm sure. I also think the bunting would look better hanging from jute instead of the ribbon, but it will remain the way it is for now.

I absolutely adore the way this chalkboard turned out. Love the cute little burlap flowers too!

DIY Wall Art

I started out with a couple thrift store frames, which i absolutely love, 6 mini forks, burlap and white & burgundy spray paint. I had already painted the frames before i thought to snap a picture. I simply attached the burlap the the inside back of frames using hot glue. I sprayed the forks with the burgundy and attached them to the burlap using hot glue. End result equals some pretty cute wall art for my kitchen! I'm a little annoyed at the ugly outlet though. Haven't come up with a solution for that one yet. Any thoughts?!

I just had to show you the dessert i made on Memorial weekend! I was thrilled with the way it turned out. So patriotic!

Plain ole lampshade turned CUTE! This lampshade was a clearance find at Target (love that store)! I added the jute around the edges and made some cute burlap flowers to tack to the front/side. I'm pleased with the outcome except for one minor detail......the colors of the jute and burlap definitely don't match! O well, guess it just adds to the character!

"New" livingroom

As with my kitchen, i decided to change things up a bit and have attempted to brighten the area. We have a small house, so the brighter colors are working well for the space we have to work with. The 1st three pictures are what we had before change began. I will let you know right now that i did not assure that things were completely neat and tidy for these pics! I even left the doors open on the computer armoire, revealing the great organization going on in there!

The basket hasn't always been there. I purchased it on clearance with the decor and color scheme in mind. I had a wooden coffee table in its place, but felt it was a little too bulky for the space.

Thus, begins the change! It is still a work in progress, thus the missing picture in the frame!

Notice the jute ball? Little plastic princess ball + jute, hot glue and burnt fingertips = cute little jute ball!

GW frame, GW wreath and spray painted key ornament resulted in this unique wall hanging. I kinda like it!

Again, the coloring is a bit off, but i think you can still get a pretty good idea of the direction i'm headed with it. I would like to replace the current rug with something brighter, but have yet to find one i like that fits the budget! Those things cost a small fortune!

With all of the change has also come homemade curtains! This is a 1st for me, as i like things to look nice and not homemade. While my creation is faaar from perfect, i was still pleasantly surprised with how well they turned out for a 1st!

The rocker will eventually be replaced with; maybe a nice cain chair?

The lamps you see in the background were thrift store finds that received a few coats of fresh paint. They were formally a "lovely" brassy color. Love the style of them.

I have recently become a big fan of leather furniture and was thrilled to find this one on Craigslist for a mere $50! I don't worry quite so much if the kids happen to get something on it; so easy to just wipe off!

Warning! Picture overload!!

While my kitchen is faaar from complete and full of imperfections; i decided to go ahead and show you some pictures of the changes. As you can see from these two pictures, my decor was definitely full of country flare! While i still love the deeper country colors and decor, i have been in the mood for something bright and fresh. The color i chose for the walls ended up being brighter than i anticipated, but i decided to go ahead and work with it. Lets just say, its growing on me!

Excuse the coloring in the following pics. Not exactly true color, but you get the idea anyways!

Easter

We attempted to snatch a few shots of all of us in our Easter finery, but as you can see; we weren't too successful! O well, guess thats how it goes with little ones. The kiddos were oh so cute in their outfits! I searched and searched for a nice dressy outfit for Caleb and almost gave up. I never knew it would be so hard to find cute clothing and outfits for little guys! Anyhow, it all came together and they were little cuties!

I plan to dress them up again this week and attempt to get some goods pictures of them alone and also together. We'll see how that works out!

A few weeks ago we took the kids to a ranch rodeo at the fair. Chastity enjoyed seeing the cows and horses and having her 1st experience with cotton candy! Was she ever one sticky mess when she was done!

After the rodeo we took Chastity golfing; along with David and Elizabet. This was also a 1sr for her. She seems to thoroughly enjoy it. Was so cute to watch.

My blog has definitely been suffering from serious neglect lately! I have one too many projects started at the same time which makes me feel as if i can barely keep my head above water half the time! Combine all of that with the daily chores of a housewife/mom....doesn't leave much room for upkeep on a blog. Anyways, i thought i would share a few sneak peaks of what i've been working on lately. I have totally revamped the decor and so far i'm happy with how its turning out. I'm still not too sure on the color of the kitchen walls, but for now i will have to make do as its cheaper that way!

Don't look too close...if you do, you will notice the little tabs. This is only temporary until i can get a real chalkboard for the frame

Transformed this beauty from gold and brassy to a beautiful sparkling white. She now hangs over our dining room table.

Notice the bead board in the background? Makes a world of difference in the room! We have yet to finish all the touch ups on it.

You can kinda get a feel for the direction i'm going in the kitchen by looking at these jars. Its leaning more towards a vintage/cottage look. Thats what seems to be working the best with wall color at least.

My little man had to have his very 1st haircut last week. His bangs were getting quite long and it was becoming impossible to keep them out of his eyes! So, last week mommy tackled the job of giving a squirmy 6 month old a trim. Not an easy task i might add! Despite all of his squirminess; i think it turned out ok. I must say, he looks much older with it.

Life around our house is definitely NOT slowing down! I can hardly believe that Christmas is almost here! Little Caleb is now 6 months old and ALL boy. He brings lots of joy to his big sister, mommy and daddy.

Below are a few pictures taken recently. Every morning, the kids and i have been taking walks up and down our little lane. Now that the weather has cooled off a bit; it is quite pleasant and the kids seem to enjoy it.

This past weekend was the fall festival in our town. Here, Chastity is showing off some of her goodies from the parade.

I am in the process of giving my bedroom a makeover and my dear mother is getting rather "impatient" to see some results!!!! So......here are a few pictures to let you in on what i've been working on. Keep in mind, I am far from being finished; so what you see doesn't necessarily mean it will stay that way! I am hoping to make real progress by this weekend. We shall see! Enjoy!

A Weekend to Remember

This past weekend, Andy and I went to Family Life's Weekend to Remember Getaway in Tampa. We are so glad we took the time to go; it was definitely worth it! We would highly recommend it to anyone. Its a bit on the pricey side by the time you pay for a hotel, food, parking and retreat, but a good investment in your marriage! Just one of those things that helps to refuel your relationship with your spouse and your whole outlook on marriage in general. Besides, who would argue about having your spouse to yourself for a whole weekend?! Not I! Quality couple time can be a real challenge to achieve with two little ones in the house!

Homasassa Springs

This past weekend we decided to take advantage of free admission day at Homasassa Springs park. Boy, was it a hot one!! We still enjoyed ourselves, although we were more than ready to leave and find a cool place to eat!

We spent the weekend of the Fourth at Hobe Sound with friends and family. We really enjoyed our time away. I really wanted to get some pictures at the beach; this is the best we could do! Birthday Girl

Our sweet little girl celebrated the big 2 last month! WOW! Time is flying. She is quite the talker, love to help mommy with anything and everything, is a wonderful big sister, loves to sing and pray and have tea parties with mommy. She is a lot of fun, but also a BIG handful at times. All in all, she is a good girl and mommy and daddy love her very much.

Its hard to believe that our sweet little baby is already 2 months old! He is such a happy baby and a lot of fun! He usually always has a smile to give us and something to "tell" us. Such a cute little guy! Chastity is doing well as a big sister; loves to "help" mommy change his diaper and is always quick to replace his "paccy" when he loses it.

We are in Hobe Sound, Fl for the holiday weekend so i am without my baby bath! We discovered the bathroom sinks works just fine in a pinch. I thought he looked kinda cute laying there and of course had to snap several pictures. He kept scaring himself; and his mama, by turning on the water. The problem being; it was the HOT water! Ouch! Thankfully it wasnt very warm when he turned it on.

I finally was able to snap some pictures of the kiddos yesterday! They are growing so fast! Chastity will soon celebrate her 2nd birthday and Caleb will be a month old in another week. How time flies!

Caleb is filling out so much. He's turning into quite the little chunk and starting to coo and respond with smiles.

We are still adjusting to a baby in the house, but its getting better.

Caleb Wade made his entry at 12:11 a.m. this morning in his own home. He weighed in at 9lbs. 6oz. and was 22 1/2" long. We are planning to get some nice pics today then we'll make the introductions.

New News!

The countdown is on for baby's arrival! We are at wk 38! Hoping to have this baby very soon. Only one very important thing remains to be done.....what will be the name?!

Thanks to my mother-in-law, the carseat went through a makeover. I am more than pleased with the end results! Very very cute. Cant wait to fill it with a precious little bundle.

In other news, Chastity is in the process of potty training these days and doing very well i might say. I'm not being very aggressive with it yet, just letting her do her thing. She is growing up so fast. I'm enjoying all the new things she is picking up. She loves to sing and read books.......reading a book when we go to bed is a must these days! Most of the time she will sit in bed between us and "read" one of our books! So cute!

She also loves to help check baby's heartbeat and my blood pressure at pre-natal appointments.

Chastity and I were very pleasanatly suprised on Friday when the UPS delivered two special packages. For Chastity, there was a Teddy gram and for myself a Pajama gram! Andy is definitely spoiling his girls! And we're liking it VERY much!

Lil Miss Gimpy!

Two weeks ago this Monday, Chastity slipped on a toy and fell with the result being a broken tibia bone! She now sports a bright pink cast that stretches from her foot to her upper thigh. She seems to have adjusted well to the cast. She crawled for a few days and then decided to try walking with it. She now hobbles around everywhere and is getting to be pretty good at it!

We have three more weeks with the cast and hopefully by then it will be completely healed. She is being such a good sport with it all.

So, i'm finally getting around to posting some new pics! It doesn't help matters out when one's computer decides to quit and is irrepairable! Anyways, Andy, Chastity and i celebrated Christmas together at home on Christmas Eve. Christmas day was spent with family and friends and the following Monday we were able to fly home to mom and dad's; and boy, is it cold here! Brrrrr. Not to mention, we have been fighting sinus infections and colds this Christmas season. Makes for a bummer of a holiday. All in all we still had a good time.

Andy flew home this morning to be back at work tommorrow. I'm missing him already! I have a few people i need to see, then i will rejoin him in not so warm FL!

Fall Happenings

So, i know just what you're probably thinking right about now......a Christmas Tree already?! As you can see, it is indeed a tree, but i'm calling it my Fall Tree for now. I have reaaly had the "itch" to get out the tree early this year so i decided to go ahead and set it up, but decorate it with fall decor. The decor is a little scimpy and not exactly what i would like, but its what i had on hand and it turned out half cute! I think i like the idea of having a fall tree. I decided to let Chastity "help" me wash the dishes today. She did well and i somehow managed to keep myself and the floor fairly dry! I have been putting off letting her get her hands into the kitchen work purely for selfish reasons. It is much easier and quicker to just get the job done and not worry about looking out for a little helper at the same time. I want Chastity to grow up with the mindset that work can be fun and not just a drudgery, so i guess i better start letting her "help" with the chores while its all fun to her!

She was not at all pleased when all the dishes were done and it was time to get down. Needless to say, we had to have a little "talk"!

Fall Festival

This past weekend was the Fall Festival in our small town. Here Andy and Chastity are waiting for the parade!

This clown was so funny! He was definitely having fun.

Chastity loved gathering all of the goodies that were thrown. So cute!

Last weekend we took Chastity to Green Meadow Farms. She wasn't so sure about it at first, but quickly warmed up to it. Here are a "few" pictures from our day.

She loved feeding the animals and also playing in their food!

This particular goat seemed to be her favorite. This is the one she spent her time petting.

I was holding my breath for the pony ride, but once they got going she loved it. By this time she was extremely tired and ready for a long nap.

She was sooo cute in the "Pumpkin Patch"! She couldn't make up her mind which one to choose.

These chairs were my big bargain from this past weekends garage saling! The lady was going to give all them to me for $5.00! When i asked if she had change for a 20 she told me to just take them! Works for me! I have been wanting some chairs just like these. They need some work, but hopefully the end product will be just what i was looking for. Besides, who can beat FREE?!

I also have big plan s for my table; if i ever get around to it! For now i am happy to have a dining room set. One that i didn't have to pay a cent for!

This past Saturday we took Chastity to the zoo for the 1st time. She really seemed to like it. We then went on to the beach, but the weather didn't cooperate and it rained most of the time. We still had a good time despite the weather!

I know what you're probably thinking right now; its about time she updated this blog! Life has been busy lately and full of changes and suprises. Chastity and i spent 2 weeks at mom and dad's and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Although we had fun, it was also good to be back home; especially since we had to leave Andy behind!

Today we made a Target run to snag some great deals. This is what we came away with.
2 boxes of Kashi cereal
4 boxes of Kashi frozen waffles
1 box of Eggo muffin tops
2 boxes of Kashi ceral bars
2 boxes of Kashi cookies
1 Digorno flatbread melt
1 bottle of Green Goodness
1 pkg of Yo Baby yogurt
6 single serve Edy's ice cream
20 ears of corn
1 green bell pepper
1 turkey tenderloin
1 can of dog food

Grand total after coupons came to $14.11!!!! Thats my kind of shopping!

We shucked the corn and i blanched it and cut it off the cob to freeze. Chastity did her part by walking around munching on her own ear of corn. By the time she was through, her and her dress were both yellow!

Much to my dismay; Chastity discovered dirt this weekend! Now its a a struggle to keep her out of it. Every time she goes outside she is drawn to any kind of dirt. She has also started bringing her shoes to me when she wants to go outside. So cute!

Her side-kick, Daisy. Daisy loves her and will follow her around the yard. Of course, she's always trying to give her face a good licking too. YUCK!

My FIND of the day is this beautiful Vera Bradley bag! My sister-in-law decided to visit the local thrift store this morning and lo and behold, look what i found! I holding my breath; knowing that the price would be high for a thrift store. I couldn't believe my eyes when i saw the price! $4.92!

Someone obviously didn't have a clue what they were pricing, because you see, this particular thrift store prices anything with a name brand pretty high.

And now the question of the day remains! To keep or not to keep? I could list it on ebay and make a nice profit or just enjoy it myself. What do you think?!

I believe the decision has been made to keep! I just can't bring myself to part with it. I'm a huge softy when it comes to Vera Bradley!

Our baby girl is the big ONE today! Its hard to believe its been a year already! Seems like just yesterday that we were bringing her home for the 1st time. Its been a joy having her in our family! She is a bright little girl. We love you Chastity!

Yesterday marked the 2 year milestone for Andy & I! Andy put it best when he said, "The past two years have been the best, the most frustrating at times and the happiest years of my life". I totally agree! Learning to live with another person can be challenging at times, but i wouldn't trade it for anything.

Just opened a birthday card that came in the mail.

"The Cake"! This cake did not turn out quite like had envisioned, but its till kinda cute; thanks to the dissected bow from Dollar Tree!

Our budding pianist. Chastity has recently discovered that the piano keys make noise. Anything that makes noise is wonderful!

A couple weeks ago, a friend and i went to a store in Sanford called Harvest Ministries. I had been wanting to check it out for quite a while and finally got the chance! Needless to say, the trip was well worth my time! What you see in the picture would total well over $100.00. My total; around $40.00! The Juicy Juice and diapers were the biggest hit for me. Can't wait to go back and find even more bargains! For those of you who live around Lima area and know about Stites; its basically the same idea only on a march larger scale.

Yesterday Chastity spent the day on the prowl for some very specific bargains. I had quite a few coupons for dog food and Gillette body wash that were expiring!

This is what we ended up with. The body wash was $2.oo and the food was $5.00. The best part was; after coupons i walked away with these for free! I also payed nothing for the Johnsons soap and only payed $.49 per package for the wipes. The Kotex was on clearance for $.36 a pkg and the lip smackers, $.16!!! Did i ever mention that i loooove coupons?!
Oh! The diapers were only $5.oo!

Alas, we are finally in Gatlinburg with mom and dad for a week of relaxation! Andy and two of his sisters brought Chastity and i up to TN to meet up with mom and dad on Saturday. Unfortunately, a week with my parents also meant a week away from my hubby! NO FUN!!! This is our first time to be separated since we've been married, and i'm not one bit fond of it! Its only been a day and i'm homesick for him already! While i plan to enjoy the week with my parents, i also can't wait for Andy to come back on Friday. Anyways, enough of the "tears" for now. My next few post will most likely be lots of pictures of our week here so i hope you don't tire of Gatlinburg!

Just had to share with you my bargains for the day! I was so pleased with this shopping trip! I was especially thrilled to find Kraft shredded cheese for a dollar a bag! What a steal.

I ended up paying $31.00 oop for $78.00 worth of groceries. Woohoo!!! Of course, that was after $46.00 in coupons! Thank the Lord for good ole coupons. The only things i didn't have coupons for were the bacon bits and ranch seasoning.
If you haven't tried the coupon game yet, i encourage you to do so. You can really score some great deals at times. It definitely helps the budget out!
